Karatna, which lies beyond the waters of Torja, also has an independent Reformed church.

Felsőtorja is known in written form from 1307, Altorja is mentioned as a preface in 1332, and there is information about the villages of Karatna and Volál from 1427. More than four thousand people live in Torja, the population of the village is almost 100 percent Hungarian. According to denominational distribution, the majority is Roman Catholic, but there are also considerable numbers of Reformed and Orthodox believers. The inhabitants of Alsótorja and Volál are almost all Roman Catholics, the Reformed people live mainly in Feltorja and Karatná. The settlement has long been considered one of the most important, it had a developed cottage industry, and wood processing was an important source of income.
