Konnáth mansion

Kezdi chair Cernat Cernat, nr. 62 A, Jud. Covasna

The Konnáth family sold the mansion to the village in the late 1800’s, and since then, until recently, a school functioned there. Currently it is the home of the preschoolers.

From the spacious dining room, only two glass cupboards remained. Out of the external plaster ornaments it remained only the one under the roof, the ones above and below the windows was knocked off. Originally the building was covered with sharp-tailed tiles, but around 1970 it was replaced with flat tiles from SighiÅŸoara.

In Cernatu de Jos there are several mansions built in classical style, the Farkas – Konnáth mansion can be found in the Fűzfalva part of the village. According to the specialists it was built in the middle of the19th century, but the thickness of the buildings walls, indicates an earlier period.
